What if Germany Never Existed? (Alternative History)

In the modern history of Europe and even the world as a whole few events have had the echoing influence as the Formation of Germany. The center of Europe went in less than a century from a hodgepodge of disconnected minor statelets into a centralized industrial nation. One that would go on to challenge the previously uncontested powers of the globe in two horrifying wars spanning it. Germany defined the first half of the 20th century and its creation marked the transition from the old world order, to the new. So what if, it never existed at all?

Its kind of funny that two of three of the greatest enemies of Austria were prussia and the ottomans and they died fighting side by side with them.

If Austria won the war then germany would have just united under austria, maybe with excluding prussia, much like in our timeline prussia united germany but excluded austria. It really was just a fight for dominance, not wether germany was going to be unified or not.

Austria actually wanted an even bigger germany, including their slavic territories in central europe, while prussia wanted an ethno state that excluded those territories aka small german solution, which we got, vs great german solution.

The Ottomans would join Britain against Russia, helping the Austrians by invading the Caucasus, but losing some lands to Russia. Also, America would join Russia and France against Britain.

Why is Britain allied to Austria in this time line? I see no reason why Britain declares war on Russia.

Good video overall but I disagree on the fate of Austria. With the annexation of Silesia Austria gains a major industrial area, a major boom to their war effort. And without the loss of the Austro Prussian war, the Hungarian compromise likely never happens, Austria would remain a centralized state. This is important because Hungarian complete control over their areas hampered Austrian industry which led to many failures in the first world war. For example, they didn't even have a centralized rail system, so all trains had to move at their slowest speed, which was a massive detriment in the opening months of the war when Austria needed to direct troops against Russia, in this timeline, Austria has a centralized rail system on the level of Germany in our timeline, they are able to industrialize and develop all parts of the empire, leading to a power industry far outshining the Russians and french. And as for ethnic tensions, Austria gets a bad rep on this front that I think is unfair. Hungarian thirst for autonomy developed these tensions between them and Vienna, but in this timeline that's suppressed, and with the industrial boom bringing living standards up to par with the rest of the world(Hungary was behind for a long time), the population would likely be more friendly with Austrian rule and participate in government, something they fiercely resisted leading up to 1867. In this timeline, Austria still has some ethnic tensions but without Hungarian persistence on total autonomy and unwillingness to compromise, the country is far more stable. And the centralization of Austria also brings with it a significantly more powerful military. In our timeline, the Hungarians refused to increase the military budget in the decade leading up to WW1 due to them wanting more concessions, so on top of things like the weak rail system which was incredibly important in the victorian era, Austria also had an underfunded military. That doesn't happen in this timeline and the Austrian army is a formidable fighting force, far stronger then Russia at least. And one last thing on the military, by 1916 the Austrian army had sorted out in kinks, any failures from then on were caused by lack of supplies, low morale due to starvation, a limping industry due to the blockade, etc. Without the Austrians fighting Britain, there is no blockade, further improving Austrian power. And my final point on Austria is that the German confederation still exists in this TL, and with Austria dominating, the confederation likely moves for war against France and Russia. With Prussian leadership and British support the armies of the confederation are more powerful then they were in our TL, and we all know the might of Germany very well. Austria likely curbstomps Serbia in the opening days of the war, and pushes deep into Russia, who would be far weaker then the Austrians in this TL. With the British army on the field united with the confederation army, the Germans push into France. I don't think they would take Paris in 6 weeks as Britain would be against the schliffen plan, but they deliver big blows to the French forces. I think Russia would fall around 1916 as the British blockade and Austrian power force them to their knees earlier. France either sues for peace or gets curbstomped.

Once again, great video, I just happen to be very interested in the Austrian empire leading up to WW1 so I know a lot about it and thought I'd add my 2 cents.

Germany would very likely eventually unite after Austrian Empire falls since the genie of nationalism is out of the bottle anyway. However it would be a more decentralized and pacifist Germany and not one dominated by Prussian militarism, so things change much.
Also Austia-Hungary was direct result of the Austrian defeat in the war of 1866, without it, Austrian empire will probably never give concessions to Hungarians which would result in them also revolting again when this alternate WW I happens, ironically, to be helped by Russians who helped Austrian crush their 1848 attempt at independence. With Austrian defeat Hungary would be instated and would be bigger, though how big I don't know, depends on how the promises to Czech-Slovaks, Serbs and Romanians would go.
