Slightly unrelated but I remember there being some buzz like 5-10 years ago around a brand called "Heroine Addicts", was supposed to be a wholesome feminist activity promoting strong female main characters or something. They probably had their share of having to explain "the archetype, not the drug"

Seeing as it didn't show up on the first page of a quick Google search, I'm not sure if it panned out okay.

I'm Brazilian, most of us grew poor and never had access to any official product, be it for clothes, household appliances or games and technology in general.
I'm very much pro pirating multimillionaire international companies that won't actually even notice how they haven't received money from you, especially if you're poor. But I'm against pirating indie developers and small time creators, those guys need help and we should buy from them.

when i did a market research module at college, i found piracy in various markets doesn't really do any harm.

the people that pirated stuff had no intent on buying it in the first place, so it's not the loss of a sale and it acted as free marketing.
Good reviews would be passed on by word of mouth to people it wouldn't have reached previously.

Plus it helps build an audience in places you don't currently (or can't currently) sell your product.
Build a big enough audience and it'll be a good enough reason to invest in localisation for that place.
