That was such a heart-warming video. Your daughter doing good camera work, asking great questions and totally engaged with what you were doing. Seeing all of them going crazy at the end was fantastic. Oh, and I hope you can get the Avantime fixed, as it is such a quirky but great car and deserves to be around for a while longer.

The lock is on the passenger side because its usually a left hand drive car ❤

Regarding the central locking, you have to add an additional relay to pulse the aux line. This wakes up the car so it always locks/ unlocks. The +12v power to the locking box needs moving also off the wiper circuit. Radio issue is a faulty cd head unit. Put batteries in the remote and it should work as the cd playing showing error so it’s talking to the main head unit under the seat. Window is sorted by adjusting the rollers in the runner. Abs is basically an early megane/espace so easy enough to sort out. Enjoy 👍

On the physical unlock issue… i would be willing to bet money its because renault were too lazy to change it for left hand drive…so they prob said no! Forget about those brits let them walk all the way around to the other side

Ben if you see this would love to see more MPVs on the channel like a ST Ford Galaxy or a pimped out Picasso as everyone is jumping towards an SUV I feel like MPVs now are cool?

For someone to speak to about issues with an Avantime, I recommend another UK YouTuber called Harry Dwyer. He has one that he uses to cart his tiny speed boat around the UK. I'm sure he'd have lots of advice and make a good collaboration.

Hi Ben messaged you yesterday bout ya locks, if ya have no joy with the reciever fix try finding the aftermarket locking module and disconnect the live feed for it and reconnect it to the battery, if it is moving your wipers and affected by sleep mode then the current live it has must be incorrectly connected to the wiper circuit hence the movement when you energise it with brief unlock/lock signal.

Some early renaults had lock reciever up in the roof at the front near mirror under a black glass looking plastic lump, sunroof fitted cars suffered from bad solder joints on said reciever and resoldering them fixed many lock issues, not sure if yours is similar but hope it helps coz it works awake or asleep on ign key when fixed

Knowing the French they probably put the lock on the drivers side and simply couldn't be arsed to swap it over for right hand drive cars.

Stickers are a great idea and I have always loved the Avantime Ben - only the French would build such a car. So nice to see the kids reaction... I'd bet the farm the Mrs's reaction was slightly different when you turned up in it... P.s. Does she like the RR..?

Last year I upgraded my entire system to a CarPlay unit mounted just to the right of my steering wheel (on the right because of my disabilities). It also gave me a reversing camera to boot.
My AC is also currently on the blink… In the discussion with the other Avi owners club to diagnose the cause.
Use a small steel rod cut to size from somewhere like B&Q to create a sturdy hinge for the glovebox mechanism as anything else will break again.
Having done all of this if you're ever driving solo open everything up put on your favourite podcast and Cruise along at 40 miles an hour. Best day ever
