Is Kawasaki's LAST GENERATION KX250 a good bike or something only desired by hardcore Kawasaki fans? I break it down in this video and go over the main differences between the 2003-2007 KX250 two stroke. I also review the 2007 Kawasaki KX250 for my Throwback Two Stroke garage build shoot out!

I've had my 07 since new and agree with your evaluation. The motor is brutal, you need to be ready for it's hit. It's an all on or off throttle response. I've also added that rear linkage from pro circuit and the fatty pipe. 14 years later still have the bike and received an entire rebuild of motor, trans, clutch . She is my dream bike.

I have had every make 250 two-stroke, they are all good in their own way. I am a diehard Kawasaki fan I have had two 05 and one 06 KX 250’s... They are hands-down my favorite, as long as you get the jetting right if you’re running a stock carb. What I love about them is that they have the hardest hitting mid range, reminds me of the brutal power bands of the early two strokes, I like the power there when you need it with the blip of the throttle.

I have an 04 and absolutely love it. Tried someone else’s 05 years ago and liked that as well

1996 kx250 owner. From the sound of it our engines are completely opposite! Mine is all bottom and mid. I absolutely love the motor for trails but haven't had much time on the track. Took it on the track one time and the front forks would bottom out on any little bump. Also had a terrible oversteer problem.

I finally resprung it and race teched the shock. Swingarm bearings are on the table right now. New piston, pegs, oversized caliper. Should be together by tomorrow, I'm so pumped!!

Great evaluation of these late-model KX 250's. I know some guys just rave about them while many pro testers hated them, but I feel that modded like yours is likely makes it a much better bike. A buddy had both the '03 and '04 KX 125 at the same time I had my 2007 YZ 125 and I felt the Kawi was very scrunched up ergos as far as seat to pegs relationship, as I am 6'1" and always hated having to stand up on those green bikes. Aside from that, they were not far off the class-leader YZ, so I bet the 250 is also comparable. I always love to revisit this era of MX and I went 4-stroke but later on understood that it mostly matters on the rider, not the bike, at most non-pro levels of riding.

Wow, great clip Greg! I have a KX250 2007 and agree whole heartedly with your assessment. I had the front/rear suspension re-valved and sprung, pro-circuit lowering linkage and now handles great. Also installed a Vforce 3 reed block and added JD Jetting kit replacing the needle, idle and 160 jet with a 162 main jet (I recommend considering this). I just love the hard hitting power of the KX250! 😁. I'm just old school I guess. Hearing your comments on the 22mm offset triple clamp, I might now look into investing in one. Thanks for the great breakdown of a great bike that just needs a few mods to turn it into one mean green machine.

Awesome job!
Love to see the differences in each bike, each year. Really helps when I go looking for used two strokes! Thanks for the knowledge 👍🏻

I never raced one but when i raced my 97 cr250 i rode a 99 kx250. My impression was cushy, less vibration, felt taller, good pull, not as much overrev. It was easier to ride faster for longer than my bike.

I have an 04 with a flywheel weight and 18inch rear. Been an amazing woods/enduro bike for years. only gripe is I personally HATE the clutch pull on these bikes. Saw a 05 for sale where the guy had lengthened the clutch arm out of the motor for the cable . Tried it with a Magura hydraulic and it really hides the problem well. I also recommend moving the forks up 5mm if you dont ride 4th & 5th gear all day.

Hey Greg I've been following you for a minute now and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your love for the two-stroke and the Kawasaki for some reason my Kawasaki's no matter what start first kick every time hot new doesn't matter and even though some of the little small things like cheap hardware center plastics and just general corner cutting stuff is down to happen when you're dealing with a production machine produced in the millions and we all know when we get our cowies we going to upgrade them, modify them and put the best component tree money can buy on them and one sorting that out I believe Kawasakis are the most reliable bikes I have ever had and I recently just found a mint 2001 KX125 that I'm currently doing resto mode on and I can see why you love these bikes especially since I'm 6 ft 3 it's a nice full size machine that fits us taller guys and the sound that comes out of it is nothing short of intoxicating anyways I hope to see some good how to videos coming up from you as I learn alot from your wondering have you ever had any Kawasaki's from the old era and if so it was your favorite

I have a 1993 kx250. One hell of a beast to ride. Having a little trouble with it but hopefully it’s not too much to fix.

i have a 05 kx250 its such a sweet bike for someone who takes it for a bit of MX riding a bit of trail ridding and a bit of playing around, it definitely needs valving springs triple clamps for serious MX, also it steered well until i set the sag, it almost needs the stinkbug to get more weight over the front, im doing a 2013 kx250f fork swap with some 21mm applied clamps hope it gives it a natural confident feeling

I love my 96 kx250 and have done a lot to it and it’s the bike I always look forward to coming back to. I’m going to finally put A kit suspension on it and ride it hard until next rebuild time 🤙🤙❤️
