Great review. I think it's worth mentioning that while the C5X is pretty long, the "over two meter" width you mention is including wing mirrors, making it not unusual. For example a Golf is slightly wider than the C5X (2073mm vs 2062mm)

I have the 1.2 petrol only model. On a recent 75 mile round trip, it returned 54.2 mpg..Like some one said, why bother with the hybrid, that costs approx 8000 pounds more...Thats 6 or 7 years fuel for me, just to the break even point..HAPPY WITH MY CAR...

Best way to be able to compare phev's is to quote miles covered in ev mode then mpg when running as a hybrid ie with the depleted battery.

Once again, the hybrid version tested. The ride comfort in the hybrid version is not representative of the other models in the range, which do not have adaptive suspension.

The hybrid is at a huge price premium to the petrol only cars. It will only be of interest to business users. In the other versions, the 1.2 engine is very economical. My C5x with the 130 bhp engine averages between 43.5 mpg to 46.8 mpg on long journeys. Urban driving it will be giving 38 to 41 mpg. Why buy the hybrid?

This reviewer needs to test other models without adaptive suspension.

I've just sold my 18-month-old C5X 1.6 hybrid after owning it for 12 months. The depreciation has been crippling and it's value has plummeted by £12, 000 over that period - I could have leased a brand new Range Rover for that. The drive comfort is wonderful and in hybrid mode it would easily achieve 90mpg. That said, the car has been really glitchy including pop-up faults with the climate control, heated driver's seat, reversing camera, auto wipers, auto lights, auto locking and electric tailgate. The weird slider thing to put it into gear (by sliding it backwards) always needs a double-check and its really easy to accidentally put it in reverse rather than drive, because its so counter-intuitive. The voice assistant is absolutely useless. Its such a shame because I was so excited to get the car and wanted to love it - but didn't.

If the suspension gets stiffer when pressing the drive mode button, your test vehicle had electronically controlled dampers (like Porsche, Audi...)...

Great review. Like your presentation style, with clear and straight forward descriptions. This review has made me think about a brand and model I would not normally consider and knew very little about.. Well done. And thank you.

So with it being so long and wide is parking an issue

Just wanted to ask, was the 75mpg achieved using the 1.6l hybrid engine variant? Thanks

I had the possibility to test drive it today and it brought
back to me fond memories from my CX days of old.
The C5 X is superbly comfortable and in hybrid mode
it saves petrol as a professional environmentalist.
Think I must have a chat with the bank...

Thank you for sharing good info - there is a good energy in you videos. You mention combined mileage (72 miles pr, gallon) is that based on when driving in hybrid in general, or when you drive it en general, and plug in every day and have a fresh battery every morning ? if i leave for vacation f.ex, will the hybrid driving as such provide a good mileage charging the battery in the way ?

Very happy with my C5X hybrid so far, except for one thing; the navigation voiceover. There are no options, it's defaulted to an awful american drawl that cannot be changed. I contacted Citoen and eventually got back a reply, 'that's how it is, and we've got no plans to update it'. Given that this is not a cheap car, (I've got the full monty), that is not really good enough.

About the battery... well citroen is working on a new gen battery so if you really want more then 37 miles or 55km... wait 2 years and this car will probably have 50-60 miles under it.

Why Citroën is completely quiet on not just advertising the gorgeous CX5, but also completely silent on a full EV CX5 is beyond reason. Stellantis execs would be the usual suspects
