By making the claim that it is the only true church bothers a lot of people. When Jesus lived on earth it bothered a lot of people. As members of His church today all we can do is find common ground with those not of our Faith, then we can Love, share and invite. I am so thankful for prophets of God.

At the end of my mission, my travel-loving agnostic sister came to pick me up and go sight-seeing. Of course, religion came up, and she said that it seemed arrogant to claim to be the true church. My jaw dropped. I had just spent a year and a half amongst people who had dirt floors and tin roofs, sharing the gospel with them, praying with them, climbing mountains and walking hours to find them, overcoming sickness, being rejected, being targeted... Living the Gospel is hard. It is a sacrifice. It may sound arrogant to claim to be the true church, but it takes a whole lot of humility to live by it if it is true.

Also, for Jesus to teach how to recognize false prophets is equally advice on how to recognize a true prophet. Why give us that teaching if all will be false prophets?

Boy you've stirred the pot with this one... well done.. I've read the comments and it's amazing the massive intellectual roadblock many thinking people have.. like you said, in the final hours God just stopped doing what he's always done which is call prophets? Excellent point..

Then even by their own admission, and even contrary to their own interpretation of the Bible, hell did prevail over the kingdom in that once the apostles were martyred, there ceased to be anymore prophets for almost 2, 000 years being now the year 2025.. now i don't accept that traditional interpretation of that scripture regarding the gates of hell, but they do.. when they say, why would there have been an apostasy, the Bible says the gates of hell shall not prevail, but if we entertain that logic well certainly it was enough to dismantle the foundation considering there are no more prophets being now the year 2025 and there having been none since..

Anyway, I'm sure you can say it better.. God job!!

"Is It Uncharitable to Claim There’s Only One True Church?"
Possibly. Like many things, some times and places are better than others to point out there's only one God, only one Christ and only one church that more accurately represents God and Christ. None are perfect, and hopefully none are perfectly imperfect.

There is indeed one church, and that is the church of Jesus Christ but not the Jesus Christ of the LDS. Jesus himself warned that there would be many false Christs, and many false prophets. Joseph Smith was one of them. How do we know? Well, what he claimed about God does not square with what God claimed about himself in the revelation he gave in the Old and New Testaments, i.e. the Bible, with which Christians are to judge orthodoxy, that is, correct doctrine.

The first of the 10 commandments is, "You Shall Have No Other Gods Before Me." (Exodus 20:3). In other words, only the true, Almighty, Everlasting God, is to be revered as the Supreme Being. Yet, Mormons have accepted the testimony of a man who convinced them that the Eternal God, was, in fact, not always God.

Joseph Smith said that the Heavenly Father was once a man, and in fact, “if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form.” (Teaching of Joseph Smith, p. 345). "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s, “(Doctrines and Covenants 130:22). This is a radically different God than what Jews and Christians have historically believed in. Jesus himself said, “God is spirit..” John 4:24, yet Joseph Smith says he is a man.

Mormons claim that Christians and Jews worship the same God as they do but this is clearly false. Why then do Mormons, who claim they are completely separate from all "other" Christians, use words and images that would make it seem that they are, in fact, just like all other Christians? One word: deception. In fact, they have become so good at deception that they cannot distinguish between Biblical truth and the falsehoods of Joseph Smith.

You are talking about religion, there is only one truth, that is the Bible and there is only one way to be saved, that is through Jesus Christ and Him only. Religion kills but the gospel of Jesus Christ gives life here and in the after life. The Word of God, the Bible is the only true scripture, anything else is a cult.
