Cecil B. DeMille's The King of Kings (1927) Starring H.B. Warner

"There will never be a greater motion picture because there is no greater subject", so said Will Rogers. And now for your Easter enjoyment, here is "The King of Kings" [1927]. H.B. Warner, now better remembered as Mr. Gower in "It's A Wonderful Life", stars.

For years, this film continued to be shown every year during Lent, long after the movies had found its voice. It's been said that theatre managers would make a "donation" to have Priests tell their parishioners "For those of you who have given up movies for Lent, an exception will be made for 'The King of Kings'." It later ended up being an annual Easter feature on PBS. And now, here it is on YouTube. Watch...remember...rejoice!
