"When you're growing grapes at home, it's different from being a commercial grower!" Well-said! Thank you!

This guy is the only person other than myself who knows the difference between commercial pruning and home garden pruning for grapevines. Good to hear this from somebody else.

One other point I will make is to remove clusters that are behind the other 90% of clusters in maturity. Some of these late clusters will never ripen, and if you used them in making wine, they can add too much acidity and/or "green" flavor.

In regards to pruning the ends of clusters, generally these are smaller grapes and are not as ripe at picking. Again, this pruning method focuses on quality, not quantity.

In regards to pruning leaf growth, be careful. If you remove too many vines/leaves, the grapes will not ripen. Industry standards suggest 12 leaves are needed to ripen a cluster. If you over-prune, airflow will improve and sunlight will come in, but your harvest will suffer. With experience you will learn how best to prune your vines. There is no single right answer that fits every situation.

No nonsense, straight to the point delivery. You grabbed my attention. I'll be visiting again. Many thanks. I'm going to follow your advice as the grapes are now the right size to prune out.

I have read a lot of books about grapes and no one has specifically talked about pinching the way that you did on the great bundles. Thank you for sharing. I will start implementing this next year.

Thanks! I never pruned my bunches, I will definitely try it out! I need to prune some extra craziness off my vine for more airflow, too. I will try using some leaves, they can be about dinner plate size. Thanks for the timely video, and best wishes to you!
