I've been using Elmer's Glue Sticks to match up plaids.... basting glue can be very pricey. But use the original white . The purple might react to the heat before getting washed out. The Back-to-School sales is when I stock up.

Really excellent tip. I used it on a tablecloth for a rectangular table where it unfortunately required a seam in the middle. Even though I stressed over matching the two pieces exactly, scientifically exact, LOL, it came out so nice! Thank you so much!
