How Drought-Struck Spain Is Becoming a "Desert" | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Spain is running out of water. It suffered a long 'mega drought', lack of rainfall and record temperatures. Now their water reservoirs are depleting. Over exploitation and climate change are causing it to turn into a desert. 75% of their land is under the process of desertification. Can Spain come out of this?

There should be a balance between forest areas and agricultural areas. They should revive their watersheds

Like Sadhguru repeatedly points out, the present system of crops near water sources like rivers is not correct. For a distance of several kilometres depending on the size of the river, only large trees have to be grown. These trees would retain ground water and release it slowly into the rivers. These higher trees will act as cloud seeders which will augment rains. Unless India takes up the ideas of such a yoga sadhguru, we and the world are also in trouble of desertification of land masses. Could be such a mistake formed even the great Sahara desert.

I have always seen many dried out spots in Spain during summer holidays. I don't know why they don't think about making water reservoirs from filthered seawater. Draughts already a problem in Spain for many years. Maybe some restrictions on private swimming pools?

This was what Sadhguru said with the save soil campaign.

Iam a Spaniard and I think that this video is remarkably acurate. Is a fact that the great droughts in Spain have a time span of three years, so that probably we are in the midterm of the present drought.

Here in eastern Europe we had unusually cold weather in April even with snow which is crazy in that month here and even still now is too fresh for usual temperatures in May . So this story about Spain should be viewed as a general change in climate and extreme conditions , on one side too cold on other too hot.

meanwhile here, just above the sahara desert where may is hellish every year, rain is not stopping for days now and temperatures are low, what is happening in the world??

They need to be digging the reservoirs deeper, to help reduce evaporation. This is the perfect opportunity to do that.

Polish biggest river Vistula is also slowly drying up, and Poland is much higher in the north than Spain.

Here in Jaén in Andalusia we've had a lot of rain this week. _This is the first rain we've had all year._ It is almost June and I doubt it will rain again until September/October. The local reservoir is dangerously low. Things are looking really bad.
