Replacing blown out turbo charger, most of the engine oil went in the exhaust and some went in the air cooler and intake manifold.

171702 is the turbo that can increase performance and fuel economy. I’d check into it. It’s a Borg Warner. Be careful of counterfeits.

That turbo has been failing and making noise for awhile I'm guessing you can hear it rattle when the compressor wheel contacts the housing usually long before it fails

Wow, that fin assembly in the exhaust! What a mess. Did you find any stray parts in the rest of the piping? Like, up to the air cooler and other connections?

The studs for the turbo mount. How did you know they were mounted by threads and not a splined shaft? I'm sure your buddy was happy with the work you did.

call area diesel service i got my turbo there last fall it was a Borg Warner less than a thousand bucks
