As for this new Canon, it's way past time they finally did something right. This may be their knockout punch to Nikon. Personally, I don't do video so I went to Fuji several years ago, and Fuji works with me, unlike my always having to fight my Canon 5D3. I can get good results either way, but I'd rather not have to fight with my camera equipment!

This is my dream camera. Future-proof me for years to come. I am a Canon DSLR shooter with L series glass. I want to go mirrorless, it is the future my plan to start with EOS R, pick it up cheap due to the mad rush for the R5, while at the same time picking up some of that creamy RF Glass. Then wait a year for Canon to get all bugs out of the system with firmware updates, then 2021 Black Friday, buy the R5 maybe 2, or 1 and a C500 II. This is my 2-year plan.

I think it's a (common) mistake to DPP quickly discount the RF lenses in favor of using the adapters with EF series. Sure, if you have a great collection of EF lenses, the adapter is a practical fix for the near term, but I think it should be clear that the R cameras and the RF lenses form the ideal system
