Imagine the chills the guy got who realized that is a whole another galaxy.

The way he speaks, he always sounds very passionate about cosmos. He's very humorous also, always love to see him talking.

I believe I read that Edwin Hubble was the one who discovered it to be another galaxy with his new telescope, which made the Universe there and then a lot more bigger then we first could have imagine. Imagine being the one discovering that, thinking that all the stars we see at night is the whole Universe, to measure all the distances to these stars to get a sense of the scale of the Universe, but then you have this fuzzy little blob changing everything to the most extreme. Amazing!

I would pay millions just to spend an evening with Dr. Tyson with a periscope under a clear night sky and just listen to him talk about everything over head. His enthusiasm is contagious even when I haven't a clue as to what he is talking about.
Peace and Blessings

"The farthest star we can see with our naked eye is V762 Cas in Cassiopeia at 16, 308 light-years away. Its brightness is magnitude 5.8 or just above the 6th magnitude limit." Incase anyone is wondering, love you Neil!

My God, it's full of stars.

IMHO Neil answered the question. You can see the stars of Andromeda galaxy but not able to tell them apart.

I wonder what the world would be like if everyone had same passion for their work and humanity that Neil does?

I bet there are people on a similar earth just like us over in that galaxy, working hard and having the same anxieties of whether our car extended warranty is up to date.

Maybe Neal has answered this same question hundreds of times and he realized that much of the time people actually meant, what was the most distant thing they can see in the sky. So getting the question again, he decided to answer the question this way... I actually appreciate him answering the question this way... if you don't it's ok, but it might be useful to understand that there are other factors that go into the way we interpret the words we hear.

Humanity is somewhere between an infant, and a toddler when it comes to our scientific knowledge about the universe!

The.more I see and know the rounds and thousands of stars and galaxies. The more it feels that there can be other planets like earth!

When the answer is better and more interesting than the question. Well played, Neil. And once you know where to look at it's clearly visible

Imagine how cool and ultimately terrifying at the same time to be alive to see the Milky Way galaxy colliding with andromeda galaxy

question was what's the most distant star you can see with the naked eye

When I told my doctor my eyes were bad he took me outside and said see that light in the sky and I said yes he said well that the andromeda galaxy and it’s two point five million light years away how much further do you want to see. 😂

Before all these people became social media stars, Russel Peters was already sitting on the throne

That's so crazy. 2 million light years away and we can see it with our naked eyes. Aka, if you travelled at the speed of light for 2 million years you'd reach it just in time for Christmas.

Actually when we say we "see" things, we are talking about the light reflected off of them into our eyes, or the light emanated by them. We occasionally are able to 'see' a supernova from deep space.
