I always knew this when I was a child and I had no way of knowing about the gnostic teachings. It was plain and clear to me when I read the bible but the pastors would never want to hear questions about any of this and shoot it down. Over 50 years ago for me of knowing and here I find this to clarify what was always within me.

A helpful metaphor to understand what's actually being said here:

If you draw water from the Pacific Ocean, does the water cease to be the Pacific Ocean just because the water is contained within a little jar?

Answer: NO! The water was drawn from the Pacific Ocean, and therefore the Pacific Ocean is now contained in that jar.

Likewise, our consciousness was drawn from the Infinite Ocean of God and poured into these clay jars we call "human bodies". That's what it means to be a "Son of God".
Because we were drawn from that Ocean and poured into these jars of clay, we perceive separation from that Ocean because what we perceive is the jar of clay 'here' and the Infinite Ocean 'there'. We only APPEAR to be separate from God...and unfortunately religion has brainwashed us to believe that the appearance of separation is the truth.

But the Truth is, because we were drawn from the Infinite Ocean of God, we are that Ocean contained in these jars of clay.

As Rumi famously said, "You are not merely a drop in the ocean; you are the ocean in a drop..."

Jesus’ deity is recognized throughout the New Testament. Paul eagerly awaited “the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13) and encouraged us to do the same. Both Paul and John declared that Jesus created the universe (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16–17), yet Genesis 1:1 clearly says that God created the heavens and the earth. This can only mean that Jesus is God. Even God the Father referred to Jesus as God: “About the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever’” (Hebrews 1:8, quoting Psalm 45:6).
