DBs, be patient. The step is already a win as your delaying the route and disturbing running.

Split release doesn't mean you can't grab him and man handle him. Go for a a tug and you can get them to the ground. At the end of the day you should have you feet tied to your hand and the release means nothing if you can move/beat them to the spot.

That puts the qb at risk, 1-2 secs plus his check won't show any route progress from the WR.
