I'm 54 now, but when I was 16, I got involved with a 26yo guy, later found out he was married AFTER he convinced me to run away with him. He went home to get clothes and left me in the motel alone and I called my best friend to come get me bc I just had a weird feeling and knowing what I know now about trafficking etc. I can't help but wonder if that weird feeling saved my life😮 my parents had him arrested and he "self deleted" before he went to court.

Me and my husband started dating when I was 15 and he was 20 we moved into together when I was 18 and he was 23. We are now 38 and 43. The first set of numbers may seem to be unsettling to some, but the second set of numbers are ok and the last set is perfectly normal. So I guess it’s all about perspective.

I had a friend who had a long time girlfriend who she had been dating (and is still with) who was like, 1 1/2 years younger than her. When she got to the point where she was about to turn 18, she started panicking cuz she didn't want to get in trouble but also didn't wanna break up with her long term girlfriend, so we did some research and found the Romeo and Juliet laws. She was so relieved she didn't have to break up and it's honestly kinda wholesome when I still see em around today, they genuinely do love each other

It did help my boyfriend and I when I was 17 and he was 19. But we had been together for two years by the time he even turned 18.

I’m in Ohio & when my 17yo daughter met a 21yo man at a hotel, I called the cops the minute I found out. I was told that in Ohio there is a 5 year Romeo & Juliette statute that begins at 16 (Ohio’s age of consent). They couldn’t do anything to make her come home, unless she stayed out past the city curfew.🤬 I was then advised that bc she was so close to 18, I “really shouldn’t do anything that would make her not want anything to do with me once she’s an adult”. Thanks for the parenting tip, officer.🙄🤦🏽‍♀️

My cousin lied bout her age yo a 18 or 19 yr old dude in FL and she was 14 granted it was over ten urs years ago...but her mom called the police and now he has to register as an offender..kinda felt bad for em

Utah needs to be checked the political system and religious. The adult parents force children in marriages at young ages also without explaining age of parties. Utah covers up my true age when they made my adoption certificate so when I was married off adults in charge I had no clue what age the man was on wedding day or my true age now thats messed up and forever insane . Utah has no care of rules or laws .

Virginia ant playing that shit. Anyone 18 or older isn't allowed to have sexual involvement with anyone under 18. 18 is the age for consent in this state.

Romeo and Juliet laws should be very limited to a small difference in age. I get the whole "pre-existing" part of the juvenile relationship, but no 17 year old should ever be dating a 13 year old. I'm surprised Florida hasn't changed that. It should be limited to a year, maximum maybe 2 year difference. 4 years difference is FAR too much.

I live in KY here we don't have the Romeo and Juliet laws so that type of thing where is a 18 with a 16 or 17 year old and the 18 year old goes to prison is a real thing here.ive actually heard of situations where a guy was 17 and his gf was 16 or 17 then he turns 18 and the parents have him locked up on a statutory r charge simply because they never liked him shits messed up.

In my 43 year on this earth i only met one guy that had legit story him and his gf both in hs he termed 18 still in hs her patents didnt like it he ended up on list funny they got married soon she turned 18 been married 30+ year.... this is not the norm ive hear ever story in book on why
