WHY we CAN’T test the new Model 3 Performance - how YOU can help

I had to make a video on the situation we’ve found ourselves in with our review of the Model 3 Performance. Tesla has blocked us from using key features of the car…why, we don’t know, but it’s the reason we won’t be able to test Tesla’s latest consumer performance car.

We review every new car on the market, bust car myths, cover the latest car tech and answer your burning questions.

Whether you need new car advice, purchase validation or simply love learning more about new cars and technology, we are your car experts.

You'll find us dropping new video content three times a week. If you'd like to ask a question about one of our videos, simply leave us a comment. If you'd like to give us any feedback on our content, feel free to email us, or alternatively, hit us up on social media.

Finally, we want this channel to grow with your support and feedback. If there's anything you don't like or would like to see us change, we'd love to hear from you!

Follow us on social media to see what we're up to and to ask any questions!

Transparency like this is why I’ve been a subscriber from the very early days of carexpert. As someone who has been tempted by the lease benefits and price to performance of an m3p, I’ve been waiting for your review. This has red flags all over it from Tesla.
Ps I don’t have a Tesla but do have a tuned golf r and live 20 min up the hwy from the proving ground 😅

Top journalism guys. Having that transparency with us certainly helps give an idea of what manufacturers are up to. Keep up the good work

They don't want you to find out how quickly the motor and brakes overheat.

I remember seeing track review between non highland Model 3 performance vs NIO ET5 vs BYD Seal performance in China. While the Model 3 comprehensively beat the other two in terms of lap time, the brakes overheated way sooner than the other two cars. It overheated so quick without warning even took the reviewer by surprise and he almost crashed it.

Good on you! If your testing is going to be genuine and consistent you need to stick to your guns! This stance confirms your credibility as a genuine motoring journalist 👍🏻

😮 crazy from Tesla. I’d understand if there was a credible reason to restrict the review, however all this does is damage their rep! Keep up the good work!

Shows you how much faith they have in their product

I bought one about a month ago and even on the street the brakes scared me a few times as it can get up to some crazy speeds but slowing down is another story so that will be one of the first upgrades i do to it, i found unplugged performance brake kits

Yes, false advertising to get a sale. However, that is Musk for you. I can remember him saying In December 2015, that "complete autonomy" would be implemented by 2018. At the end of 2016, Tesla expected to demonstrate full autonomy by the end of 2017, and in April 2017, Musk predicted that in around two years, drivers would be able to sleep in their vehicle while it drives itself. Anyone still drinking that Tesla cool aid.

BYD: "Hello, yes, pick me. Pick me. All track mode for you. Hello?"

Just review it without track mode, and then compare it directly with the Hyundai. Then listen to Tesla complain.

Good on your CarExpert for standing up to Telsla! What a bunch of clowns! Was thinking of upgrading to an EV soon but have crossed Telsa off my list - just who do they think they are?

If you lend Paul your car make sure you cover the plates up. Elon can be very vindictive.

Just bought a Model 3.
Have owned a couple of Audis (TT & S3), BMW 430i, Mercedes CLA 250, a bunch of Toyotas (Corolla, Prado), Ford Ranger, VW Golf & Tiguan 162, and 9 road bikes.
The Tesla is unbelievably good. It is a sign of the future for sure.
I’ll always have an electric car in the mix from this point on, alongside my Landcruiser.

They know the car won’t perform well on a track especially against a ioniq 5n . In saying that Tesla did a fantastic job on the price and as always the software is first class. By getting it under the luxury car tax and setting the price so low has allows it to be fbt exempt which is very smart of them. Hopefully we get the better batteries in the future that improve performance .
