Rodrick's VERY OWN Wimpy Kid Journals Are Closer Than We Think

Greg Heffley's adventures in Diary of a Wimpy Kid have been around for more than 15 years. We've read about Greg's middle school escapades, Rowley's experiences with his best friend, and now... a new character might get the spotlight: Rodrick Heffley.

Jeff Kinney, creator of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, has recently shown interest in giving Rodrick his very own Wimpy Kid spinoff. Considering Rowley's adventures, this wouldn't be a surprise to see. Rodrick Rules was the character's biggest highlight so far, meaning there's a ton of room for expansion in his very own journal! Will Greg Heffley's brother finally get some time to shine?

Rodrick’s an interesting character when it comes to his relationship with the fandom. He’s not much more than the typical big brother bully and a dumbass slacker, but somehow he got a huge fanbase. My guess is that it’s because of his role in the movies, but I could be wrong.

Oh yeah the whole “Diary of a” has became a whole popular million dollar, iconic kid book franchise. The Books, spin off books, movies AND TV SHOWS! I think a Roderick diary would be amazing to add to that franchise as well.

I’ve always wanted to read Rodrick’s journal, even more than Rowley’s really. We don’t know much about the person he really is since Greg just wants to focus on him being a jerk, and he seems relatively normal at first glance.

The funny thing is that when I was 12 I once tried to make my own version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the funny thing is that it was called "Diary of a Cool Kid", guess this is now canon 👀

Rodrick has always been my favorite of the Hefflies sibling wise. He isn't as much as a self-centered jerk as Greg and isn't a winey brat that manipulates his parents a lot like Manny. Even younger me always liked whenever Rodrick bullies Greg because I viewed that as payback for whenever Greg mistreats Rowley

Rodrick has always been a complex character, especially in the movies, so giving him his own journal could be a great thing.

Another thing that could change it up is have Rodrick draw well (better than greg and rowley anyway). That could be a hidden talent of his, that'll shine through in his journal entries.
