Quite surprised that Cmdr. Charles Lightoller isn't on this list: guy was an absolute tank of a man, and survived literally everything life threw at him none the worse for wear!

Over the course of his life, he joined the British Navy at age 13 after being abandoned by his father, survived being shipwrecked on a desolate island for 8 days, helped fight a coal fire on a ship, contracted malaria while serving in Africa and somehow pulled through a 106° fever, became a prospector and cowboy during the Klondike Gold Rush before hitchhiking back to England penniless, faked an invasion of Australia, BECAME SECOND OFFICER ON THE TITANIC AND SURVIVED THE SINKING, destroyed a zeppelin and U-boat during WWI, and finally, saved 130 men during the Dunkirk evacuation on a yacht certified for 21 passengers.

His autobiography, Titanic and Other Ships, is available to read online, and his yacht, the Sundowner, is still intact today. Also was portrayed quite faithfully by Kenneth More in A Night To Remember!
