At a recent convention, I was able to meet Raiden Shogun’s English VA. From what she had mentioned, most recording is done in their own personal recording studios (this was especially true during COVID). I’m not sure when Sumeru’s voice overs were done, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened while things were still pretty locked down.

It is shocking though that they didn’t catch that her mic was peaking on the S’s. Hopefully they’re able to get that fixed.

I noticed this around when the SereneTeapot first came out, Ningguang's mic was also doing the weird "s" thing

I think it's problem with VA's equipment. If they couldn't get her in studio, that means VA needed to do this in house and maybe doesn't have best microphone. I think they will change it if they have posibility, like they changed Barbara's and Diona's voicelines.

I first noticed it with Katheryne's lines, and thought it was some deliberate lore-adjacent thing. Turns out it was just home recording!

This is the third or fourth time I noticed this. I wondered if they are having the voice actors record from home or something. It's obvious that they are clipping, and my guess is that they didn't have time in the production schedule to go back and re-record it.
