Would you buy a M4 Pro or M4 Max iMac?

A 32” iMac with 5K resolution at 120 hz refresh would be too expensive. Apple should just give us back the 27” iMac with 5K resolution and 120 hz refresh. It would be more affordable and awesome.

I have been waiting years to replace my 27" intel iMac. I am sure the engineers, marketing and bean counters would argue that it isn't needed as it doesn't offer anything that the customer couldn't already achieve. However, Steve.J would have understood the apple customers and instinctively known that this is a gap in their product line worth closing.

I’m using, since new, a 2017 27” iMac 4.2 GHz quad-core i7 2 TB Fusion Drive with 32 GB RAM and Ventura. No complaints until about the first of this year. The poor Fusion Drive was really feeling its age and running slowly. Actually, that has been the case for three years or so. I finally wanted to do something about this less than satisfactory performance. My solution was to use an external 4 TB SSD with Thunderbolt 3 and 4 compatibility as the replacement for the internal Fusion Drive. I installed macOS Ventura on the external SSD, made it the boot drive and migrated everything from the internal Fusion Drive. Everything works as expected, including iCloud and Time Machine, and of course much faster.

If Apple does release an M4 iMac Pro 27” or 32” I’d consider buying one, but it will be a long hard thought process. I’ve considered the M4 Mac Mini with a Studio Display, but it’s pretty pricy, so I’ll keep waiting to see what Apple does with the iMac.

I just got my new orange M4 iMac on Tuesday, to replace my mid-2017-build 21.5" Retina 4K iMac...so the specs for the iMac Pro would have to be really compelling for me to upgrade so soon...that said, I do want to get the new iPhone SE when it comes out, to replace an iPhone 7 that is my backup phone. I'm keeping my iPhone 13 mini as my primary phone...and will get the battery replaced most likely in the spring...really wish Apple would offer a "mini" model for their phones...those of us with smaller hands really like it!

32" is the killer application for the iMac surely? I can't believe they've not released one yet Anyway, I've had my M4 Mini a week now and I am LOVING Getting so much done and got a nice new TB4 drive arriving in the week too....

I had a Mac mini then got the m1 iMac because I was tired of troubleshooting monitor compatibility issues. Now I’m back to a Mac mini setup (m4 pro) because the last iMac announcement was such a huge let down and it convinced me a future pro/max/ultra iMac configuration isn’t happening. Ugh I’m dreading getting the $tudio display but I hate hate HATE hunting for compatible monitors so much I might actually buy it.

I’ve been waiting years to upgrade my 2019 27” Intel iMac - I purchased the Mac mini not realizing it wasn’t compatible to use with that model of the Mac - I wasn’t willing to give up the screen. So I returned the mini. Been waiting for at least a 27” iMac, though 32” would be amazing - for the wait it should be done. I would love if they transitioned the screen to touch screen 😎

Hopefully I am going to buy a new Apple TV since I don't have one yet and I like the integration it would have with my other devices. I also recently picked up a new M4 Pro MBP, and so far its great!
