Last year I had the worst experience with a Canadian retailer. My G5220 in Casino Gold had sharp fret edges. Turns out mine was improperly handled and stored. Found one used at a pawn shop in mint condition in Aleutian Blue (ltd run for Long & Mcquade) and I love it!

I wish I could find an ft version with a stoptail. Or possibly would put the blacktop filtertrons in the 5220. I definitely want the filtertrons

Now I'm torn between the Dark Cherry Metallic and the new Firestick Red G5220!

I really want a G5220 but my biggest issue is finding the right colour (first world problems, I know.) I like the firestick red but I was hesitant to get it because I've already got a (dark) red Gretsch. In this video it looks more copper than red. Is that how it actually looks or is it lighting?

Hey, Gretsch Guitars, would you be so gracious as to clear something up for me? As of today's date, August 17th, 2022, what is the production material for the fretboard on the G5220? Is it Indian Laurel or Black Walnut, and, while you're at it, could you maybe provide a little primer on the differences? Thanks!

P.S. I'm picking up the G5220 in Firestick Red this weekend. Can't wait!

I bought a 5230T in early Spring of 2021. It has good bones but the thing was in really bad shape when I received it. Tuners, junk. Nut, cut wrong. Frets, two were high. Fret ends, sharp as a razor. Fretboard, rough. All knobs, useless taper. Switch, shorted half the time. Bridge, sharp saddles. Trem, B50 isn't all that great. Fine guitar once I fixed all that.
