What do you think of these results? Do you consider upgrading?

Great tests. 1 other comparison you can do is high ISO for both cameras, but compare noise when the subject size of the xt5 is made smaller, down to the size of the xt4 subject. Because at pixel level, 100%, the larger MP sensor will definitely show more noise

Very interesting and well done video.
I noticed however the shadow recovery was done at ISO 800 not base ISO?
It would be interesting how the dynamic range compares with both cameras at their base ISO (I believe the XT5 is lower at 125) which is where they should perform at their best.
Thanks

The X-T5 has a lower base ISO than X-T4. When testing dynamic range, it makes sense to test the camera's at their base ISO, not ISO 800.

Thanks for the analysis. I bought the X-T5 before watching your video. I also own the X-T3 and X-T2 and prefer the X-T5 on sunny days due to the resolution. For astrophotography, sunsets and sunrises I use the X-T2 because it has the best high/higher ISO performance of them all IMO. For street photography in the evening or at nighttime, I also grab the X-T2 for the same reasons despite it not having IBIS . All in all, the X-T3 has become somewhat obsolete and the X-T5 only gets used in low ISO settings.

Excellent comparison. I upgraded from the X-T3 to the X-T5 because of the higher resolution, the new processor and IBIS. Maybe it is because of the compression but I could not see that white artefacts that you described...even pausing the vid and gettin in close!!
The newer technology wins for me because you would expect a higher res sensor to be less efficient with higher ISO.
These experiments are great to do and will point out some issues with both cameras using ISO values that 95% of people would never have a need to use!! For me, it is more day to day stuff like the ability to crop much more with the 40mp sensor, having 7 stops of IBIS and excellent image quality.

Good video (as usual), it looks like for my style of photography I’ll keep my X-T4 and spend the money on a couple of lenses that I want (not need). Be well.

Hi, an excellent video. I like the very high quality of your videos. I love my X-T5, but I can't compare it to other X cameras, it's my first X camera. But what I can say is that I've sold a lot of Sony and Panasonic gear and don't regret it. The X-T5 is now my camera for daily usage.

Why would you do the dynamic range comparison at ISO 800? They should both perform best at base ISO.

I'm tempted to upgrade from the XS-10 but I think money would be better spent in lens instead 😅The call of GAS never stops...

What are the file sizes for lossless compressed on the XT5?

Good set of tests (as a former XT4 and current XT5 user). Thank you.

I have X-T4, I will up grade to X-Pro4 provided that has 40mp.

There's no solid reason to upgrade from X-T4 to X-T5 except battery life, weight and dimension (for the person with small hand)
But if you upgrade from X-T3 or maybe XT-2 and X-H1 like me, and has a small hand, i can tell you it's 100% worth

Thanks for the video, very informative. I do mostly macro photography on my XT3 but never go higher than 3200 iso, this could be a good upgrade for me.

Thanks for the vid! This may be a stupid question but will shooting a smaller RAW file (Lossless compressed, compressed) reduce the artefacts in high ISO (e.g. 6400) since there's less details?

Thank you for this video, is exactly what I was answering myself, should i upgrade to xt4 or xt5 for my job? being both similar I would like to have some more Res... thinking for prints and commercials. I'm still thinking of it.... Thank you again, I ll keep following your channel.

Sur la vidéo, je n'arrive pas à discerner les artifacts dans les ombres ? Pourrais tu me l'expliciter stp ?

Was your NR set to 0? Everyone keeps talking about setting the xt5 to -4 to get sharp images. Do you have an opinion on this?
