Esports Talk - How to Destroy Your Own Channel

preview_player
Показать описание
Esports Talk is (or was) an extremely large news outlet in the gaming space, focusing on the Esports industry at large, for an audience of nearly half a million subscribers.

In their prime, the outlet was capable of garnering millions of views per week, but more recently they have parted ways with core talent and begun to bleed subscribers every week.

With strong parallels to "Pretty Good Gaming"... i find myself speculating that this brand may be on a downward spiral that is impossible to pull out of.

Esports was more fun when it wasn’t corporate

Hi. Just want to say thanks for how you covered this. I was linked the video while I was doing a live stream and watched part of it on my broadcast. I did add some commentary and context and fully attributed the source but will delete the VoD if you request. I think you do great work and I've followed it for a while Given the low standards of Esports Talk and their two former mouthpieces this isn't much of a compliment but you certainly have a much better understanding of how to cover the news than they do. I wish you every success.

You do more investigative journalism than most professional journalists.

Nothing petty about being upset at people ripping off your hard work bro. Keep up the great investigative journalism work!

I fell in love with how articulate and how in depth you are with your videos. A lot of channels lack the kind of proffesionality yours has. Anyway, big fan seen the earth 2 videos like 10 times by now

I really wanted someone to talk about this, thank you for doing so!!

The reason why the change in format was so appealing is because you did more investigative journalism in a short YouTube video than most major news organizations do in a year. Serious, most investigative journalism these days boils down to, "what did this random person say on Twitter, " or, "we only have a single source to verify this story, and we aren't going to tell you who it is."

Man that kinda sucks for Pretty Good Gaming. I did stop watching them after they switched hosts, but I didn’t know they basically died.

Its the same for the channel "The Escapist"
Would Yahtzee go, the channel would die in one day

The *Upper Echelon Collective* is still one of the greatest memes of this channel

I'll admit I got far, far more interested in your channel when you began doing investigative videos. This was a really good change imo. We need more of this out there.

Also it's not a petty thing to be annoyed some random journalist didn't cite your work correctly. You put in tons of effort, so don't beat yourself up too much about being aggravating someone refused to acknowledge that.

I used to watch eSports talk more than a year ago and since then i forgot it even existed and surely i used to watch the main host the most. short videos and straight to point was what i liked

I only ever watched for Jake, I thought it was his channel when I first started watching.

Moral of the story: if you don't want your life ruined, don't mess with a hacker or a journalist.
Yes, Echelon, I'm calling you a journalist.... no, I don't care you disagree.

This explains why my friend who worked for Esports Talk recently quit without a real explanation.

PGG was amazing when they had the full staff. Each person brought something different and they seemed to really bounce off each other.
