After watching this i feel no closer on choosing a keyboard, this videos feels more like a recap and overview of all the ones you have tested so far rather than a "Here's which ones are good and to get"

I felt like I learned nothing much after watching the video. Wtf

sadly as someone who's not into keyboard, this video was not helpful at all in recommending a keyboard. it was all over the place and way too deep into details that really don't matter to someone like me who wouldn't know anyway.

Honestly, this video is all over the place, and I'm more confused about what to look for in a mechanical keyboard than when I started. A whole bunch of jargon just got shotgunned into my earholes and it's obvious I'm going to have to go consult some keyboard jargon Rosetta Stone to parse this. I appreciate the attempt, though.

If you were expecting a straightforward list of recommended keyboards, think again. This guy just loves to hear his own voice and keeps yapping and yapping for over 20 mins.

I need for more keyboard peeps like you to make a much MUCH louder noise about the lack of ISO layout boards and cap sets from all these manufacturers. I got myself an AKKO 5075B, with AKKO's Creamy Yellow switches, and while I do like the board, it was more a case of "It's all they have" rather than "It's what I wanted the most". But if people like you, with connections to (or at least contacts in) these various companies, were to make a big noise for us consumers, maybe I'd be able to choose "What I want" instead of being forced to go with "What they have". Love the work, keep it up!

The fact that the EVO80 is not in here/has not been tested by you is criminal

Here's why, if you want to, you should keep making videos:
There will always be people like me who are og tower performance geeks who might not have known about the keeb world and who have to work within a budget.
Because of you, I got a Keychron K10 Pro because I have to have a num pad and learned: I didn't care about wireless or flex; software matters, especially if one is paranoid about security; the differences in sound and what contributes to it; that LED orientation matters; and that I could fix the things I didn't love for not a lot of money. I got new keycaps from Ali Express, a cool space bar and esc key for fun, lubed the stabs and only some of the switches because the sound was inconsistent across the face of the board, foamed the larger keys, and am really happy with the result.
Your videos helped me, someone who isn't a gamer, is on a very limited budget but who wanted something fun and cool even though it's mainly for work, navigate overwhelming offerings.
Thanks for the work you do. I know you take some flack from snarky jerks, but of all the creators making keeb content I found you the most watchable and accessible.

If the goal was to create more confusion and provide literally zero useful information, then congratulations, you succeeded with flying colors...

Hey hipyo, i just wanted to take a second to thank you for all of the hard work you put into this channel. It really opened my eyes to the world of custom keyboards. Before i found you like a year ago i was using a glorious gmmk pro and thought i was satisfied with it.
You got me into researching and opened my eyes and ears to the whole world of keyboards out there.
I have since gotten the evo80 and into modding mainly because of this channel. So, again, thanks for all of the work you do.

You're right. Mechanical keyboards are just getting better and better these days. The good thing is (IMO) that now we don't have to manually lube the switches, stabs, foam modding, etc. because they're just that good as stock keyboards.

I really like the idea of a budget keyboard, plus a budget to upgrade, vs a prebuilt that would be equal price in total...so if you get a $60 board, but then have to spend $50 or so for better switches, keycaps, and modding supplies, then will it be better than saving up $110 or $120 and just getting that next step up...Of course if you get a $60 board that is "acceptable" you also don't have to upgrade it right away, so you can do it in stages, so I just always like to see those types of videos that show how to improve them.

Thanks for all the awesome videos! Hope you're doing well (or at least getting there).

What I can say about Keychron is that even in Brazil, the service is great. I had a keyboard shipped in the wrong color (V10), and after contacting the importer's support, I shipped the keyboard back to them, where they immediately shipped another keyboard in the correct configuration, which I have to this day. The whole process of notifying and being dispatched didn't even take 48 hours. I have other better keyboards, like the Rainy 75, but in terms of service, there is nothing like it in these price ranges.

Thank you for mentioning the existence of ISO formats a few times, it is most of the time forgotten. Thanks for your overview.

I’ve tested roughly 100 or more switches as well. My recommendation for switches: best tactile is baby kangaroos v2, best silent tactile is shrimp, best linear is black ink v2 (or the color version with a lighter spring), best silent linear is silent frozen v2.

Personally, I find the baby kangaroos and silent frozens to be the most impressive. For my gaming keys, I use silent frozens and they are PHENOMENAL. They feel so smooth (like ice, hence the name) and are dead silent, it’s crazy how silent and good these feel. Even if these weren’t silent, they would be many people’s favorite feeling linear switch.

The shrimps are your best bet if you want silent tactile switches. I have a few of them on my keyboard. They basically feel like a slightly (10g) heavier and more janky baby kangaroo switch. They are almost dead silent. Overall, these are not as good as the frozens, but definitely the best silent tactiles from what I’ve tried.

Best overall would have to be the baby kangaroos v2. For me they are the perfect feeling switches. I love the weight, the tactile bump, shape. just everything. I really can’t imagine anyone not loving this switch.

Bonus: Best typist’s switch is the gateron mini i. These are tsctile and on the light side (45g). The travel is shorter and they feel like lighter and popier baby kangaroos. They have a very pleasant poppy feeling. A breeze and a pleasure to type on.

I recently bought a Royal Kludge RK96 and I love this thing. Wireless, Bluetooth or wired with pale green switches and a magnetic wrist rest. All for $100 with a cable, switch puller and extra switches.
