How to verify a YouTube account

When you verify a YouTube account and YouTube channel, you can upload videos longer than 15 minutes, live streaming, appealing content ID claims, and get access to custom thumbnails.

To verify your account, you’ll need a phone number associated with your account. Youtube will send a text or you’ll receive an automated call to verify your channel and YouTube account.

You can access this under the settings menu and then the channel tab and feature eligibility.

Why is it asking for ID or to send a video for verification? That's the only way it will allow me to add links in the video descriptions.

I am a bit curious of the reason when I got to youtube studio and want to go live it shows me the 24h timer each time I go on there as if it just started that moment even if I done it over a weeks time
