I love this video. The best one I've found. I've driven hybrids for a few yrs now and thankfully I've been using the pulse and glide method without realising!

Try it for yourself and see how much more fuel you can save! I am curious to hear how much more fuel this can save you all 🤔

Don't hammer the throttle when pulsing because that will use more fuel than pulsing moderatly. You want to get to your max speed ( when the gas engine is on ) relatively quickly, but you shouldn't be racing to get there.

Basically you are saying that after buying lexus you don't need to enjoy the drive. By the way nice tip for saving fuel.

In my RAV4 hybrid I go from 0 to about 40km/hr without having the engine come on. As soon as it does, I use the pulse and glide. I’m getting 5.8l/100km (50 MPG) mostly city.

“You want to drive safely…” says the guy who spent most of the video not even touching the steering wheel.

Also, this boomerang effect is what causes heavy traffic, a few people doing this is going to cause traffic jams which means you and everyone else on the road will actually use more fuel.

Just put your car in eco mode and let your car’s computer manage your fuel consumption, it’s smarter than most drivers.

I bought the Ford Escape plug in. Same as the Rav 4 in essence as Toyota and Ford work together on hybrid technology. I did a long trip in Eco Mode and switched in between modes to see the difference. Prince George to Terrace on the way there The car said 60kms left in miles left. On the way back the car said I had 178kms left in full eco mode using the save for later. Auto EV works. But what gave me the difference in fuel economy was coasting down the hills in neutral. Driving a lower speeds managed in some cases 3.7 liters per 100kms. I would not go crazy on plugging it in. On the trip I had a rest stop with a plug in and charged it full on the way there on the way back only had 10kms of charge. Sport mode recharged the battery the best on a downhill. Coasting in neutral doesn't use gas the engine is off in neutral. The quicker slow down leaving it in Gear wasn't worth it unless the speed can be maintained.

I bought a new Toyota Rav 4 hybrid and my first tank of gas I averaged 43mpg. The pulse and glide comes naturally from using the hybrid gage.

I do pulse-glide-coast. 24 Corolla Cross AWD hybrid getting 85+mpg @70% ev. Humourous the miles to empty has to reset at least 3x per tank, mpg display is ALWAYS WRONG 25% to low😂

I bought a 2025 Camry hybrid 2 weeks ago my first hybrid car..the sales guy only explained the EV mode told me that's the only time the car is. driving in electric is under 25 mph. He didn't tell me about this pulsing how do you do that?

I have been using adaptive cruise control while in ECO mode while on highway and I see a difference. But I will try the pulse and glide

Thanks for sharing! I have a Lexus ES 300h and this is an approach that I stumbled upon unintentionally. I was noticing the EV symbol displaying on the dashboard as I pressed and released the accelerator. The result was my mpg went from 44 to 54 mpg. Your video explains the method to the madness 🙂 Thanks again.

Looking for fuel saving tips for my HEV and came across this video. I do have a 350, 000KM+ 2004 Toyota 8-seat Sienna (obviously not a HEV); however, I also have a 140, 000KM+ FWD 2019 KIA Niro HEV (6-Speed DCT-Dual Clutch Transmission not a CVT) and currently getting 4.065 L/100KM, 24.6KM/L, 57.87MPG-US, 69.50MPG-UK during summer driving on a second new set of All-Weather snow approved (for insurance discount) Michelin Cross Climate2 (OEM was Michelin Energy Saver A/s, only good only for MPG/dry/warm weather. Save a lot not having to buy a set of winter & pay twice a year for tire swapping). I have been careful with hypermiling however, never fully understood the full pulse & glide technic until seeing this video demonstration. I will adjust a bit of my current practice and see if this method will also improve my MPG on a FWD DCT HEV. Thank you & I will watch the additional videos you had made related to this topic. 👍

Nice concept and great video. Quick question, when the car is gliding, is it also recharging the battery?

Youre starting to tread into the " high mileage per gallon" Prius owner club territory bragging..lmao
