Check out this awesome tip on how to save gas! Did you know that at 120 km/h (60 MPH), a vehicle uses about 20% more fuel than at 100 km/h? This translates as follows: On a 50-km trip, this increase in speed (and fuel consumption) would cut just four minutes from your travel time! The key is your engine's RPM. Watch this video to find out more.

I usually do about 100 Km/h while driving in the highway, and I do up to 120 the moments I overtake (in my country, I can legally exceed the speed limit by up to 20%). I tried to monitor my consumption multiple times, and I realized that the moment I force the engine to reach the 120, my instant consumption increases drastically, and then decreases, until it reaches a slightly higher point than the 100. When I leave my foot from the throttle, so that my engine drops back to 100, the consumption reaches 0, until I give it a little throttle to stabilize it. The reasons why I choose to overtake at 120, is because I want to move off as quickly as possible when passing next to other cars, and because if I keep doing 100, I'll be more likely to get tailgated. Another reason why I reach 120 that has nothing to do with overtaking, is when I'm about to encounter a steep hill upward in the highway before reaching the steep part, because it will then be easier and more efficient to stabilize my speed at 100 (this is the only way to go uphill without downshifting).

This just answer my experience. Car broke on the free way, had to drive 60 mph for four and a half hours. MPG showed 39 mpg. My average is 33 mpg; that's about 20% different.

this is why I always drive 75kmh in the 100kmh highways and I stay in the right lane that way I never have to be behind anyone and in the rain I do 60kmh to be safe

And the wind drag gets a lot higher with speed as well.

That is why your engine and transmission is 1 to 1 gear ratio meaning the rpm of ur engine is same as ur wheelels
