$700 Volvo XC90 - Installing New PCV Parts [Part 6]

I bought a running, clean title Volvo 2006 XC90 with 219,000 miles for only $700!
In this video, I install new parts for the PCV system. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system prevents the buildup of pressure in the engine, which can blow out seals if allowed to build up. Overhauling the PCV system is key to getting this car back on the road!

Keep an eye out for the rest of the series where we'll find out if it was worth it and what I'll have to repair!

Parts referenced in this video:

PCV kit at FCP Euro - Be sure to check the engine serial number!

Bristle brushes you can use to clean finished metal surfaces (generic or 3M). For aluminum parts, use the higher grit (gray) options. (Amazon links)
Set:
Roloc gray only:

Temperature sensor connector:

I have a 2005 xc90 T5 and still.love it after 130K miles and 19 years. I am not that handy but love to see how you rebuild the car. Thank you. I now have some oil accumulated around the coils( more in the middle near oil cap and the black hose) underneath the cover.. At 90K miles, coil 3 went bad and two plugs 3 & 5 had burned off a big chunk of the electrode. May be i bought some counterfeit Volvo plugs from the web. 30K miles later, I checked the plugs again. They were in good shape so I guess no big problem with that cylindars itself. The PVC repair is quite a bit of delicate work and not sure money is worth spend with any regular mechanic for good result. What would you think? Can I just keep driving with it? The whole engine and compartment is still very very clean all around and there is no oil or fulid dripping down. No more rev up the engine just for fun ( unnecessary crankcase pressure to spil out more oil).

Hi I’m 75 I have restored 3 xc90 d5 wagons in NZ. Your videos are great music is good subtle not to loud. It is good to see you take your time and do a very good job. You cannot cut corners on these cars. Working on some jobs can be demanding especially doing the right angle drive 2007 d5 done in place from underneath, …. but doable, I’ve done two right angle drives on my 2003 / 2004 xc90s, which are not to bad to do, … and did my 2007 six speed which is almost twice as hard.(((-: Lubing your axle splines is a must they don’t run in trans oil. Your engine will love you for doing its pvc. ((-: These cars are a great drive and well worth restoring. Good luck and thanks Henry. (-:

If the box isn't cracked take acetone and pipe cleaners and clean EVERYTHING .REPLACE RUBBER HOSE AND COUPLER.You should be good.i did it .worked like a charm.it takes a while to agitate and pick any buildup out of orifices but slot of times it's peanut butter sludge and you can break crud and carbon chunks out with acetone and ream tools and picks.savrs money.

Thank you for this detailed video including the torque specs for certain bolt sizes. I will get the same FCP euro kit you purchase since the fitment is also for the S60 T5. My only question is why not just clear out the PCV nipple hole and attach a 11mm rubber fuel line hose instead of using a new PCV nipple with the plastic tubing that is more likely to be brittle again?

Great video. Do you have a parts list for everything you used?
