Respect for not messing about with the takeoff footage, other YouTubers often play music over it or speed it up. I think they forget their target audience is AV geeks 😂

One of the few things I still enjoy when flying is not having online access. I really dread the day when calls become possible

Great video. Additional info:
1. Wi-Fi is now free for all Krisflyer members regardless of class of travel as long as the number is on the boarding pass. But even if you forget to include it, you can simply ask the crew for a code and they'll happily provide it.
2. Amenity kits are available upon request. The pouches come in 3 different colours as far as I know.

Great video Paul.

Have done SYD-YVR too many time to count and in every class and I would agree with most of your advice in getting through a long haul flight (though my longest is 16 hours not 18).

I would add 1) avoid caffeine (coffee, tea or coke) until you are about to land / wake up 2) pack something to knock you out - even just come cold and flu tablets 3) invest in some decent noise cancelling headphones and listen to ambient / white noise when trying to sleep 4) if you are flying economy, make sure you bring your own neck pillow, eye mask and some snacks and 5) lastly, never skip a meal!

Ten years ago, we flew Singapore Business Class from Houston to Singapore back when they had a fuel stop in Moscow - they now stop in Manchester. The return trip took about 25 hours, and the absolute worst part was the 90 minute layover in Moscow. The seats were comfortable, and the food and service were outstanding.

Having flown Singapore Airlines in Business Class on the A380, 777 and A350, I can attest to the amazing service, quality of everything you encounter and that having a lie flat bed is the total game changer. I've done lots of long haul in Economy (LHR - AMS - BKK - SYD in one go for example or AKL - LAX, LHR - SFO, LHR - HKG) and it's brutal. Hence for my last long haul I decided to push the boat out for business class. It was worth every penny and more. In fact it made my trip so utterly amazing that the getting there and back is one of the highlights, rather than 'endurance to be born'. My book the cook favorite is Lobster Thermidor - absolutely bloody marvellous washed down with Chablis. Also Singapore Airlines Singapore Sling is delicious. I'm envious of you doing this trip - not for the getting to New York but getting to spend 18 hours in SQ J class!

My wife and I did this flight in 2004 in the Airbus A340 ER. Watching this really took us back. We could only afford Premium Economy so neither of us got any real sleep and it took days to get over the jet lag. But wow, what an amazing flight.

We flew from Singapore on a similar route to you but came back right over the Nth Pole. Well, within 200 miles of it.

I've done the opposite direction in Premium Economy, and with favorable winds it was "only" 17.5 hours. The service was excellent, and I was able to sleep as much as I wanted, due to the excellent recline and comfortable seats. (I can't imagine a flight of this length in regular economy.) I should note, though, that I find the PE seats on EVA a lot more comfortable, so the next time I do this flight, if it is in PE, it will be in EVA with a transfer in Taipei. But still, a very good flight, and minimal jet lag even in PE.

I flew that same flight (sort of) a few weeks ago. A few miles shorter to Newark. I also sat in the same seat, 29A. Singapore Airlines will always be my first choice airlines when flying

One of your very best reviews Paul, thoroughly enjoyed it with some great tips and having flown Singapore Airlines before and their service and attention to detail is second to none.

I flew from Atlanta to Perth Australia & it took me 34 hours with layovers in Los Angeles & Sydney. Took me 3 days to feel somewhat normal.

Another great video, thanks! My longest flight was Doha - San Francisco on Qatar, 16 hours wheels up to touchdown. Economy aisle seat center section, middle seat empty. Loved the whole experience!

WOW! What an immersive video of a wonderful journey. I see SQ 21 take off from Newark at around 10 AM flying over my house in New Jersey all the the time. Definitely on my bucket list. Thanks Paul

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having TBBT or Young Sheldon on the entertainment system. It's still a good show to pass the time.

BTW...I love getting amenity kit bags. I repurpose them for other uses. My favorite was Lufthansa's Porsche designed bag.

Paul great vid, as always. I will presume it was just coincidence, however a sanitary napkin (that you showed) is used in a very different place and for a very different thing than a "wet wipe napkin"...LOL

Well done Paul, another great trip video, and loving the shirt on first flight! Thanks for showing most of the 2nd takeoff, most YouTubers seem to crop these out, but I like a good takeoff - so long as I can hear the engines (hint, hint)

Flown quit a few times with SIA (AMS-SIN v.v.) with B772/773 and A350, and once from Ney York- to SIN with A340-500. All flights business class! I can write a book of my experiences witj SIA, but I can keep it very first class TOP airline.
Food, service crew EVERYTHING! And Changi is indeed a world on its own!

SQ actually does offer an amenity kit granted its on request. Although it only contains and couple hand lotions

Thank you for taking us along on this mega miles flight! Your posts are always well thought out and a joy to experience. As I'm retired now I prefer to slow paced short hops from SE Asia [in first or business of course] and enjoy overnight stays in BKK, HKG, NRT... then back through HNL... savoring the experiences and the lounges. Have a G&T for me... and for the fun of flying🤠🤠🤠
