I loved blacksmith. It was such a great way to have your PC specs or gear be visible and monetized at the same time despite the limitations it had.

name I haven't heard in years. Harris, you're a fucking Saint. I wish our ages were flipped, yet you still had the knowledge you have (the doc is only months older than me). Keep the words of wisdom coming!

So true … in my opinion Twitch has more problems… the kinda not existing Support… reporting something has no effect… and crazy try to stop people from streaming on youtube or kick and Twitch at the same time are ridiculous when they extended it to everyone... Twitch is slowly dying?!

They take it because you guys don't do anything about it. Everyone cries online but 99.9% of people just continue to use the platform.

Here's the problem. You have twitch as a company that's owned by amazon.

So it's sources of income are ads and revenue split on donations or subs.

What you're asking is to create other potential sources of income by in this case pushing people towards buying things off amazon they wouldn't normally buy because they don't know.

You're saying "take less revenue and in exchange have creators advertise for amazon"

Now there's a big issue

How likely are these ads to work? Most people aren't streamers, most people aren't rich enough to buy all this shit. If they were they'd be playing those games not watching twitch.

There isn't an estimate that you can give which would justify to twitch to make a better revenue split. Because any money isn't going to last long it's gonna be great in the beggining and then level off.

It's like a sneaks drink code. They sponsor one video and give a code because any hype won't last long.

There just isn't enough money to be made from all these little things that twitch would listen to you because as an individual creator unless you're pulling in a disgusting amount of views you have no power.

Now here's why amazon doesn't give a fuck. So twitch is a subsidiary, its a seperate company. Amazon is being nice enough giving people a free sub with prime.

Twitch needs to be able to make money on its own 2 feet. Without amazon's help. Otherwise they'll turn into Google constantly losing money on YouTube which would lead them to make shittier and shittier choices.

YouTube monetization went down the drain ever since the adpocalypse and in order to make that back we now have double ads the first is unskippable, anti ad block features that try to stop you getting around it, shit tons of sponsored content and videos which are basically ads with the shitty script or shit creators are forced to say and terrible sponsorships.

Bare in mind this is ontop of dogshit channel networks like the ones that fucked over smosh.

So amazon looks at that and wants to avoid it. If twitch loses money they will sell it off.

Having to subsidise it and in turn get possible profits which are really unlikely because most people who watch twitch are too young or broke is just never gonna be OK with them.

So yeah this plan is just too much hype that's never gonna be implemented.
