They all pull me in nostalgic and beautiful ways, but the backdoor one is it for me.

The bVImaj7 is definitely the most unique sounding / rare used out of these three… love it… gonna work this out

I have never heard the bVI Maj7 trick before. It sounds great! Thanks Jens.

Also, it made me immediately grab the guitar and learn it!

The first one sounds so beautiful and almost enigmatic too, but in general they all sound great.

That Dbmaj7(9) sent shivers down my spine

2 scoops of that Neapolitan please! They were all so smooth though

I thought the Neapolitan Subdominant sounded gorgeous!

Can you make type of minor chord like this !? I love it ❤

Jens, thank you so much for your tutorials. You're a great teacher! Really like the Neopolitan the best.

I think in this context the Neapolitan easily wins—but, the bVImaj7 sounds like it wants to resolve upwards. In which case I think It could be more enticing... [Shrug] I'm not even totally sure what you're talking about though, lol.

The middle one has a very unique richness. In the first one the acceding line on the Major 7 is very cool.

The first chord progression is the one used in New york state of mind!

The third Neapolitan Subdominant seemed to have more tension as well as color which sounded beautiful. Liked them all though.

I don’t know. I liked all three of them ! 😉

So nice! The bVIM7 sounds so dark - perfect for ballads I think. I need to use it more. The backdoor dom has a more straight ahead resolving sound but the Neopolitan has the most interesting tension to me- looks like an altered tritone sub.

Bb7(13), I really liked the chord changes in that one.

I liked the last two, but the neapolitan was special to me.

I liked the third one. It'll be quite interesting to put them on solfa.

Love watching your videos Jens!

Anyone know why the Bb can be considered a subdominant? I thought backdoor dominants (new concept to me) replaced V's.

Thanks!
