Ammonium Dichromate decomposition

The Classic Vesuvius Fire demonstration. Ammonium dichromate undergoes a disproportionation reacttion whereas the salt is both the reducer and oxidizer. The N-3 in the ammonium part of the salt is the reducer (gives up the electrons) to the Cr+6 who acts as the oxidizer (gains electrons).
