Volcano Reaction - Ammonium Dichromate Decomposition

preview_player
Показать описание
With just some slight encouragement in the form of activation energy, Ammonium Dichromate can undergo a very exothermic and impressive decomposition reaction. Due to the production of gases in the reaction, and the lower density solid product formed, a "volcano" effect occurs and is always a crowd-pleaser!

What a reaction! The end product seemed to be more than you started with. Again another stellar video from you.

Hi, so basically I'm making this volcano out of mud clay... and will use a test tube inside and will fill it with sand and then add the chemical on top of it... and can light it later to give the erupted effect... but here my doubt is that... is the aluminum foil necessary to produce the required heat??? I've already performed this before but just was curious if there would be any change it the reaction

My mom got me a big jar of this for a volcano I made for science class in grade school. I made the volcano and put about 4 or 5 matchheads in then the AD, then more matcheads, etc, topping it off with match heads. The effect was great because when the matchheads lit it spewed the AD high into the air. I got an A lol.
