If you put fresh strawberries in a big bowl of cold water & add 1 table spoon of vinager it cleans & gets rid of any bugs. Only needs to sit for 2 mins and then rinse with cold water. Really works to clean them.

Canning mine in the morning! I’m loving this way vs jam. I plan to eat them over Poundcake or ice cream. Yum!! I also dehydrated my tops to add to hot cups of tea later.

I know this would be an extra step and would cost an extra dish, but why couldn't you have a separate plate or casserole dish that has sugar in the bottom and you drop several strawberries in it and gently roll them in sugar and then place them in the pot. This way the berries would be completely covered in sugar, and they wouldn't get mashed in a pot when trying to stir them.

Jinne, maybe when you put the berries in the pot when it's only 1/2 full ad part of the sugar then & stir it in. My neighbor is a boss at one of the strawberry farms. Last year he brought me a 5 gallon bucket of berries. I made him some strawberry bread & jam as a thank you.

I am very new to canning and never thought of canning (water bath) strawberries. What a great idea. Thank you for sharing this! ❤🍓😋

I've never thought of canning strawberries whole. Always made preserves or freezer jam. Going to have to try this. Unfortunately strawberry season is pretty much over here in Southeastern Indiana. Love your videos.

I picked up about 13 LBS of strawberries today as well, as I got them on a incredible sale. Anyways, I wanted to can them like this, but my family members won't eat strawberries that are canned, so I used my foodsaver and just froze them.

I never made jam with them this year, as I still have about 27 jars left from last year, but I think what I am going to do is get some more and can some just for

Exactly how my mom did it, we often had them with toast for breakfast in the summer months . She did the same procedure with many different fruits 👍🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓

Try adding your sugar a little at a time instead of all at once when the pot is filled. Then you won’t have to mix them as much and reduce any bruising.

I bought store bought whole canned strawberries in a pretty glass jar and it had a screw cap (like those pickle jars but it was a pretty glass jar) and I was wondering, can those be sterilized and then screwed down and use those for canned strawberries again? I heard somewhere that you can do that. Anyone??

Suggestion: I put my jars in the oven at 225f, on a cookie sheet, for about 15 minutes to sterilize after washing them. Just an idea.

Is this a tested recipe or your own? I’ve never heard of canning whole strawberries before……interesting.

I have always wanted to do canning and never have. This video makes it look simple and takes the fear out of it. Thank you!

Do you have to use sugar at all? I want to preserve them natural...🤔
