If I were chilling in 2005, and you told me in the future, a Civic could beat an NSX, I would've personally brought you to an insane asylum.

So a 40 horsepower disadvantage plus worse gear ratios (Idk the weight difference), and less advanced brakes and it still does quite well. That's why I love the NSX.

They did everything right when they designed the NSX. It still looks so good.

The main difference is that the NSX could have been mistaken for a Ferrari back in the day while the Civic looks like Kryten from Red Dwarf.

Between the two, i would take the nsx, plus the nsx will appreciate in value in the coming years, the civic type r will depreciate.
