Horror and queerness ✨

I’m really looking forward to hearing you talk about this Willow 😊. When at uni I did a dissertation on gender and sexuality in sensation fiction and it really resonates with some of your links with horror.
How I would interpret it is anything that steps out of the “norm” (ie anything in the past that the white middle class male would deem “not acceptable” ) is considered “the other”, ” the outsider”, “queer” .

Sexuality, gender, disability, disfigurement, mental Illness, the unmarried woman etc etc the list is endless. You can see so much of what “respectable society” (cough) fears throughout the horror genre being played out through novels and films alike. It’s like in order to interpret what they don’t understand it has to be “villainized” . Sorry for the ramble but I find these things fascinating 🧐 💕😊 oh and P.S I wish I looked as good as you do when sick - hope you feel better soon 😊🙏

totally agree and can't wait to hear your thoughts on the book and queerness and body horror :) I have always felt there's a connection between my queerness and identifying with the monsters in horror.
