Review and Demo of the Makerbot Replicator+

Anyone else unable to send a print to their Makerbot over the Labor Day Weekend? I am still unable to get the Makerbot Print software to actually SEND a file to the printer. The printer itself is working, if I print from the menu, but I can't even export a file to a USB drive. It simply hangs, and support will not speak to me at all.

You can only use MAKERBOT filament or you VOID your warranty, also they use proprietary pla spools.

Hey, do you know how to convert a Makerbot to Raspberry Pi or Arduino so Makerbot can't disable your printer years after you buy it?

I teach a CAD Tech program at a college. We have two of these, as well as a Z18 and a Rep2X. These Rep+ unfortunately waste more filament then they successfully print. Four years later and we are replacing them with a couple of Ender 3s. The lack of a heated print bed is to their detriment. If anyone knows how to get prints to stick without using thousands of yards of painter's tape, I'd love to hear it.

Don't print anything that requires more than half the footprint allowed, because their tape will ALWAYS peel up at all four corners, if the PLA doesn't break loose from the blue tape sheets.

It's a beautiful printer don't get me wrong. But other than that, it's a complete scam.

Don't you love how Makerbot turned off a bunch of printers without any kind of notification being sent out because they had a data breech and instead of admitting it, they closed out a bunch of devices, and then because they KNEW they would be inundated with TONS of complaints they turned off their SERVICE PHONES, claiming TRAINING as the reason. Stay away from Makerbot, poor quality prints, constant print head issues, thousands of dollars down the drain! Also terrible customer support.
