Our rejection of Nuclear power was a massive mistake, and the environment has payed dearly for it as we continue to rely on fossil fuels for our electricity

Dear subscribers, as you noticed, unfortunatelly Geo History and the translated channels have been hacked. Youtube is working on it right now, hopefully it will be solved very soon. Sorry for that and thank you for your support. (Geo History from the last channel that hasn't been hacked)

Gotta love how, in less than 50 years, humanity went from "Wow, this thing leaves a trace on a photo plate. That's pretty interesting!" to "Big energy bomb go boom and win us war!"

They left out an important event. In 1989 South Africa became the 1st and only country to surrender its nuclear weapons arsenal.

The reactors at Chernobyl are not pressurized water reactors. They are so called RBMKs, a type of graphite moderated reactor in which the fuel is contained in pressure channels that penetrate the graphite moderator. There is no “reactor vessel” in an RBMK reactor and it also doesn’t have a containment.

Great work and most recommended to watch it.
I understand it is difficult to create a short video on such a subject, so, really well done.
However, personally I feel the case of South Africa should have been mentioned being a former nuclear power too and the only country fully giving up its weapons on its own will.
And maybe also the case of the former Soviet Union states which were for a very short time also in possession of weapons to some extend when the Soviet Union fell apart.

I believe that some crucial details were left out on the Manhattan Project, most notably that the US, while leading the Manhattan Project, did not have the UK join immediately, and in fact "In July 1940, Britain had offered to give the United States access to its scientific research, and the Tizard Mission's John Cockcroft briefed American scientists on British developments. He discovered that the American project was smaller than the British, and not as far advanced." It wasn't until mid war that the project was increased exponentially, and the British "Tube Alloys" was absorbed into the American project.
