I was changing the brakes on my wife's car and had my 40-year-old parrot, Rambo, on his outside perch where he sings and talks. Sometime later four police officers showed up saying a neighbor called because she heard a woman screaming for help. I promptly introduced the officers to Rambo and we all had a good laugh. Afterward, I also introduced Rambo to the neighbor who called in the screaming. She too had a good laugh. Sometimes Rambo yells 'help, help, let me out'. Something I taught him when I was a kid and Rambo lived in a cage.

Plot twist: Rambo was mocking the actual victim trapped in the house.

The owner posted that he's own the parrot for 40 years and taught the parrot to say "help" and "get me out" when he was younger and the parrot was in a cage. Sounds exactly what a kid/teenager would do to aggravate parents.

He's as old as his parrot. That's so cool... Imagine having a pet when you're a kid and still have it when you're in your 50's. 😍

The dog totally stole the parrot's thunder.

That parrot is a troll. He stopped screaming as soon as the cops arrived.

There was a parrot in a shop down in LA back in the 90's that use to say, "Hey! You! Yeah, you! Let me outta here! LET ME OUTTA HERE!" in a Bronx accent.

Nobody's saying it, but good job on the neighbor that called it in. Too many people are abused and the bystander effect takes over and nobody does anything to try to get victims help. This was a totally benign situation that was easily explained to cops without problem, but it could have saved a person's life had it been something serious.

Real story: The dog is trying to tell them they have the owner of the parrot in the basement

Better to have overly concerned neighbors than ones that don't care.

I had a friend who would babysit a parrot because it did the exact same thing. I didn’t believe her until I stayed with her one night while she was watching the bird. The emotion in its voice when it screamed, “let me out” was so real it sounded just like someone in dire need of help. That bird could boogie too! It sang and danced like Prince. Amazing animal.

Or the parrot is used cover up for the women trapped in the basement 🤔

This actually almost happened to me! I moved into a duplex with my cockatoo, and when she wants my attention, she screams mama! Mama! My neighbor thought we were abusing a child 😥😓 thankfully we met officially, and I was able to explain to her the situation before the cops were called 😂😂🤦‍♀️

I feel your pain brother. We had peacocks... and yes, we did thank the neighbors who dutifully called the sheriff. You never know when it really could be someone calling for help, so please do check it out.

👮‍♂️Cute. Now, if you don't mind, we'd still like to have a look around.

He taught the bird to do that as a teen. Definitely something a bored teen would do.

I think the cops were so relieved that is was just a parrot and not some horrible domestic situation they had to deal with.

I love the story behind why he screams for help xD now he's a free bird sitting on his perch and not in a cage. True love.
