One thing I will say in defense of people staying in abusive relationships, is that you will never understand what it’s like unless you’ve been in one! They are called trauma bonds for a reason and you really need to research what happens in that kind of relationship. Just saying, “oh they can leave” is not fully grasping the reality of what it’s like for survivors of abuse. They really do fall in love with their abuser and the abuser manipulates and gaslights them into staying. You don’t know what he threatened these women with and you don’t know if they had a strong family or support system to go to for help. Noah, you are usually on point but on this one you just don’t have the experience to understand the gravity of that kind of torment!
