Makes me so angry they cancelled the Ares-1 and V. It was such a great idea. We would rather spend money on countries that hate us, programs that provide no future investment, or wars that benefit us in no possible way. NASA's budget is so low, yet they have done the most for this country in terms of technological advances, which if you think about it, is EVERYTHING this era is built upon.

as a kid who was born in 1999 I grew up with the space shuttle and when in school we were watching Ares 1X I had gotten excited thinking that this was a new space shuttle but when teacher put it on I couldn't help but be sad in my mind the space shuttle was the BEST launch vehicle in the world only 2 failures and yet WE WERE GOING BACK TO CAPSULES I was but devestated

the ares rocket was a bit of an unorthodox design, using what essentially was a space shuttle rocket moter as a first stage.

Fun fact, the Ares 1 program was cancelled due to it being unsafe and overbudget.

The Ares-1 was a bad design anyway. Firstly, it completely destroyed the launch pad and secondly, the vibrations caused by the solid rocket motor were too high for humans to survive.

I wish President Trump would bring the Space Shuttle Program out of retirement, I REALLY miss watching the shuttle launches on TV, that shuttle looked so majestic heading up into space, sure wish the shuttles would fly again
