Velvet shank is one of the very few wild mushrooms that grow in winter and can withstand frozen conditions.
You will find them in clusters growing on dead wood from early autumn through to spring. They are a great edible mushroom and should be cooked before eating.
I hope you enjoy watching folks.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EAT MUSHROOMS IF UNSURE OF IDENETITY

Another interesting video . I once went on a one day foraging course about 25 years ago and like you, the course instructor was telling us not to pick any plants if we didn't know for sure what they were . He then suddenly took ill and an ambulance was called to take him to hospital. It turned that he had been on a walk early that morning with his dog and was eating mushrooms and had poisoned himself. The only mushroom that I know for certain that is safe yo pick is the horse mushroom. It has localised names but it's the common mushroom that only appears in August/September time for a few weeks. Again great video and keep up the good work and the doc has said I can now start on short walks for now as I am piling on the weight. See you soon Mate.

Very good video about mushrooms. I also film them (feel free to check). Very well explained. Galerina marginata can be mistakenly picked by beginners, so the velvet stalk and white spores are very important features to keep in mind. Is the dog trained to find them?
