As I filmed this, this V70 was for sale. A great value performance estate with room for all your family and their stuff. Great to drive and with a soundtrack from the engine making the audio system redundant, who could possibly resist this bargain buy?

I had to buy a new car in feb before the ulez kicked in. I have a large dog who used to take up the entire back seat of my hatchback. Bought my 02 v70 2.4T and it’s been proper reliable and comfortable. This car has been perfect for me and my dog and always brings a smile to my face as i drive. Only issue I’ve had is the alarm system. If locking with the keyfob, the silent alarm can randomly start going off. Have to lock it manually with the key (which I’m more used to with my other car lol).

got the D5 xc70 variant - best car ive ever had, i actually sold a later model V70 to step back to this true Swede build quality... lovely on a long run. Also had the 850 with the 20valve 170bhp 5 pot and agree it was a peach of an engine

This is the car I want when I return to the UK, I'm looking something that's good value, reliable, and has room to sleep in the back for the occasional weekend adventure.

Bought one the other day, 2001 model with very low mileage, and same color as in the video. Will pick it up next week. Cant wait. This excellent video didnt make it easier lol.

I've been considering one of these, and you might've just pushed me over the edge!

Got one in the same colour and year, mines the d5 with 113000 on ... so lovely and comfy to drive and decent mpg i.e. around 42 to 45mpg on a run. Had the common fault of the dashboard info failing but there are a few companies that will take your dashboard and update the internals and it cures the mis-information that can occur. Other common issue is the car can go through bulbs for some reason? Other than that ...I am expoecting this car to go through to 250, 000 to 300, 000 miles easily as long as I keep it serviced, great cars ... just wish the road tax was cheaper!

I’ve got a 2007 2.0t. Bought for €1, 300 We really love the car leather interior in very good condition. Engine very smooth and great torque. 2.0 is big enough here in Ireland because of our high road tax. My brother has one also. Thanks for the review.
I believe Volvo used a Scottish tannery for their leather interiors.

I used to have a 5 cylinder diesel S60 in silver on a 05 plate. I'd had it for 9 years before I part ex'd it for a Mk 2 face-lifted S60 on a 15 plate nearly 3 years ago. It wasn't the most reliable car I've had but I absolutely adored it and was sorry to see it go. The kick in the teeth for me was the fact that I only got a couple of hundred quid in part ex on it, and I reckon the garage/dealer scrapped what was a perfectly good car. It had over 11 months MOT on it, and I checked the government website over the subsequent months and it was never reregistered/taxed. Which told me it had been scrapped! I should have sold it privately and maybe got £1000/£1200 for it, and someone would have got a perfectly good car. The only issue I had with it, was that I found it virtually impossible to replace the headlamp bulbs on it - which it went through quite frequently.

Great post. …. You’ve tried the naturally aspirated 3.2 though, right? …. 👌
