The funny part about turbulence is while the plane becomes a flying house of prayer in back, the pilots up front are just trying not to spill their coffee as they experience a normal day at work.

As a pilot i would like to say, turbulence is like driving your car over a road with some uneven surfaces or potholes. ITS NORMAL, enjoy the ride

I completely understand everyone's anxiety and fear. I do. As a 40 year pilot I sympathize tremendously. But modern aircraft can sustain an enormous amount of violent turbulence. I know it's uncomfortable and I know it raises anxiety. But please don't fear the aircraft is going to "come apart." It hurts my heart that people behind me in their seats would think they were going to die. Trust me, the pilots up front are doing EVERYTHING in their power to go over, under, around, and through the turbulence with passenger comfort as a highest priority. Sometimes that is just not possible. All pilots in the vicinity are talking with each other looking for smooth air. And trust me, if there is a route or an altitude to diminish turbulence they WILL TAKE economics and aircraft costs to descend or climb. Pilots don't like it any more than you do.

Turbulence, no matter how “dangerous” it feels, is completely safe as long as you’re seated with your seat belt on, you will be fine

I had a wonderful flight attendant on a delta flight notice that I was anxious. She knelt down next to me and said that there’s no worries most of the pilots are ex military and have flown through it all. I hear her voice To this day and it still keeps me calm.

I've been through super shaky turbulence, but if someone screamed like that it would feel hundred times worse. Do your best not to add to the distress on the airplane.

Well someone told me that the pilot was saying that, imagine you're driving a car & you are passing a rocky road, now because you are trying to sway left & right so you don't drive over the rocks, and as you drive through, the passengers all of a sudden get jolted up & down and think they are going to crash and that is because they don't see ahead of them so they don't know what's causing this.But the driver is calm and has everything under control.
