Learn how to charge your Samsung phone if it displays a water drop icon

Your galaxy device may not support charging if it detects any water or moisture above a certain level in the USB port.

When your phone displays a water drop icon, it indicates moisture detection. If that is the case, you should turn off your device and leave it to dry completely.

If you still experience issues or see the icon, follow these steps.

1) Unplug your phone from the charger
2) Wipe with a dry cloth or gently shake your device with the port facing downwards (5-10 times)
3) Place your phone on a cloth in a well-ventilated area or dry with a fan

If you experience issues with your charging even after drying your phone, try clearing your USB cache.

1) Go to ‘Settings’ and tap ‘Apps’. Then tap the ‘Filter and sort’ icon
2) Tap the switch to enable ‘Show system apps’
3) Scroll to ‘USB settings’ and tap ‘Storage’
4) Tap ‘Clear cache’ to clear your USB cache

If you are still unable to charge your phone via the USB port, you can charge it using a wireless charger.

To ensure your phone charges correctly, make sure it is placed directly in the centre of the pad, without any obstructions in the way.

Complete nonsense. My phone has NO water or anything else. Will not charge. This is a software issue not a hardware issue.

It's just a programming bug and a bad sensor 95% of the time. just fix your device instead of putting out crappy tutorials what won't fix it. Make it so we can ignore that warning!

I absolutely have no had my phone in contact with water what so ever. Occasionally I would plug it to charge and I would get a water warning but it was brief. I thought it odd, but wasn't having any trouble with my phone till 6 days ago. Suddenly it wouldn't charge and died. I ordered a new phone which has not arrived and I got desperate and started watching youtube fixes. I used a clean tooth brush on its charge port and then plugged in and it started charging so I thought it was fixed till it wasn't. I only had 6% battery at this point so I shut it off. Then I found this video. Turned it on and tried the clear cache method and now it is very slowly charging. I'm so hoping this has solved the issue. Sharing my experience in case it might help someone else. Thanks for this tutorial.

I might change to apple just for this annoying issue. On my orevious samsung S21, I have spent one full year using only wireless charger. I have upgraded to S23, 2 months later, the same problem. My phone has never touched water, and the port is clean.

Here's what worked for me, from the comments:
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Connect your phone to the charger (and get the water icon).
3. Hold down the power button and keep it held down for a long time.
When my phone came back on, the water icon was gone and it was charging.

What helped me when it was completely drained and wouldn’t charge is I had to hold the button down until it showed 0% (like it was trying to turn on) and then plugged it in and it started charging.

This happened to me while holidaying in India. It started showing the water drop icon and wouldn't charge except for wireless charging. Came back to UK and started charging on its Own.
Very weird behaviour.

It has happened in many important occasions. It's one of the reasons I am switching to iPhone. Fix it Samsung, it shows moisture detection even when there is nothing leaving my phone uncharged for dozens of hours!!! Stupidly super annoying feature!

I have this issue since 2 months on my s22U, it's not going away, I tried all the methods that Samsung suggested but no use. Using wireless charger now. Stupid feature, probably my last Samsung phone.

Why is this still not fixed? I see people having same issues 8 months ago.
When I plug my charger instead of chargning I get moisture icon and can't charge. Annoying af when you are on 10% battery.
Please give us proper update.
