This is going on everywhere. If you complain, you are told, "Well, if you don't LIKE it, you can MOVE." One place left me without electricity for a week, leaking pipes dripping onto my kitchen counter for four months, black mold, rusty water, cockroaches, a stove that shocked me, cracked tiles and inadequate ventillation. Another left me with cracked tiles, bathroom sink and kitchen counter, broken smoke detectors, and sewage backed up in BOTH kitchen and bathroom sinks (simultaneously) for nearly two months. It's "private property" and the government/DOH do NOT have juristiction nor authority to hold them accountable in spite of the severe health risks these slumlords create.
