At my home, I installed 2 GWN7660s, to replace a couple of mesh systems. One was for IoT, and one for everything else. In all, I had 5 APs and 6 SSIDs. There was more RF flying around the house than necessary (obviously).

With my 2 new 7660s, and having the advantage of VLANs, I was able to reduce the number of SSIDs to 4. The CAP (Master) is in my home office, and the RE (Mesh) is in the garage, at the far side of the structure.

After reconfiguring a few client SSIDs, and testing everything (51 nodes in all), these APs are undoubtedly the best decision I could have made. My decision to buy Grandstream, was largely based on information you provided through your YouTube videos. So, a big thanks to you!

Good video as always Willie! Is the rogue AP detection specific to the 7660?

Can they work as a mesh, where one is without a RJ45 connection? (backhaul)

Thnx Willie good info, looks like this ticks most/all of my boxes. That embedded controller has tweaked my interest I think I’ll source one and try it out.

I am now using Grandstream 7660 and my internet plan is 300 Mbps. I connect laptop and mobile but the speed is very low showing only 57 mbps

i got two of these on the same network, took for ever for the "Detect AP" button to find my "Slave Device" got it up and running in my test environment. I then decided to deploy to real world, changed the ssid on the "Master" device, it never replicated to the second device, I have tried every way in the world to factory reset these devices. After doing so ( took so many tries to go thru) reconfigured my master, the detect ap never finds my slave device.. Now Im stuck cant reconfigure it.. may just return them to amazon find a different product.

Can you join the remote AP to the controller AP? The remote AP is connected to the main site via S2S VPN.

Thank you very much for the video. Do you have any information about when Grandstream will release a new firmware which enables all 5 GHz channels?

Excellent review, do they have a 4x4 WiFi 6 model?

Hi Willie, appreciate your introduction, which got me interested in Grandstream products. Before making any purchasing decisions I'm very much looking forward to your feedback on the product. Hoping it will be published soon? Thanks again and wishing you all the best, cheers!

Am I crazy or is the only way to upgrade the firmware locally on these GS APs is to login with the MAC and Password, as a Master, then change the FW address, and update/upgrade. Then when done, unit is back to blue. Factory default/reset, back to purple and done. When updating the FW on the Master it does NOT update the slaves automatically unless I was missing a step. Is it me or is that odd? I see no place in the Master GUI to pass newer FW to the slaves.

Is this a cheap Chinese knockoff of Ubiquity? I have never heard of this company. The APs, UI, and even the sign on page looks just like Ubiquity.
