When I discussed with my dad the blatant lies the church has told and truth kept in the dark, he said “well what would you have me do? Just stop paying tithing? Stop supporting all the good the church does?”…. And it hit me like a ton of bricks…. He doesn’t see it, he’s not ready to say he’s been deceived… it’s so frustrating. He’s not wealthy and can use that money instead of giving it to a church with billions of dollars.

I was LDS but I am not anymore and one time I talked to my bishop about my bills and food if I did pay 10% and he was more worried about the 10% than he was about me having food and being able to pay my bills

Tithing is biblical not saying it is the pass to Heaven but faiths that believe in the Bible believe in tithes and offerings. As a now non-Mormon still believe in tithing. It just doesn’t get me an entry pass anymore 😮

I went to school with a mormon family (6 boys) that we loaned a large window AC unit to because their father lost his job and they were behind on tithing and the church wouldn't give them any help. Window unit was cheaper for them to run than their central air unit. Opened my eyes to what the mormon church really cares about.

I was reading the crazy things that people wrote down without real knowledge about the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm a member of The Church, I pay tithing every single month, and I have received great blessings in my life and in the life of my family.

"Tithe or burn for sure." That's stuck with me ever since I heard it at 17 can't remember the last time I paid tithing.

My parents had a pallet business in Utah growing up. LDS church was the biggest client. I would help with invoices and the church’s folder was 4x times the size of everything else. Nearly took up an entire filing cabinet drawer. I always wondered what they were doing with all these wooden pallets. Funny to think that Mormon’s tithes were keeping our business alive, an anti-mormon family who would troll the missionaries saying we were satanists 😭😂

I was in healthcare and I was taking care of a lady and just before she died she was all worried about paying tithing. I think that is so sad that they would take money from old people to pay their tithing is sad, sad, sad, sad

Preach! At my most faithful, I was living below the poverty level and still paying my tithing.

They had less faith in the members than the members have in their "gospel."

Tithing is a commandment (not unique to the Church of Jesus Christ), and that is why it is part of a temple recommend interview. The temple is a sacred place. If you aren't following the commandments, why would you want to go into a sacred place? You are either misrepresenting the situation, or you really don't understand what we believe.

I never thought of it like that. So you are paying your way to heaven? Kinda what jesus kicked the money dealers out of the temples was all about. Wow, how far the church has fallen.

Yeah the “not paying tithing” defense was a huge red flag for me.

Malachi 3:10, I believe, was the tithing verse. **former catholic, so it's been a minute** But it was just supposed to be 10%, right? And then the lord would take care of you??? So when did the Mormon church get elected to intercept tithings "for the lord" and add them to their bottom line???

I am a member of the church. To have a church function in this world, it needs to be funded. It not only teaches valuable lessons of dedication and sacrifice but also aids in humanitarian projects all over the world. If this church is corrupt than where is your evidence? If you have ever studied the teachings of the church you would know that a true practicer of the religion is good to all around them no matter who they are. One of the ways to aid in this matter is financially. So no it is not buying your way to heaven.

I have a testimony of the gospel. The church of Jesus Christ of Later Day saints does not control me. I have received a testimony from the Lord on how to live my life. Which the way the lord's church The Church of Jesus Christ of Later day saints offers to the world. Because it's true.
