Programming Toyota side view mirror self tilt adjustments

the mirrors self tilt when you put it in reverse. most people think you cannot adjust this but you can and you can even turn it off. this is on the highlander sienna avalon camry tundra

Steven, I have a 2021 Highlander platinum.. I knew the power mirrors worked but did not find that in the manual. Once I set the mirrors I would turn it back to the middle. Well, had to take car in to dealer for service. I asked the service manager if the car had the option because I had seen it adjust just after I purchased it. New.. So, he said let me check… asked him about the mirrors changing when I put in reverse. He came back and told me No, the mirror can adjust its just done by the knob. I told him, I had seen the mirror adjust but could not get him to accept that, and I left and knew I could find it on you tube. So I have been fighting that power mirror since 2021 June. I kept forgetting to look at you tube to see what I could do. thanks so much for solving an easy problem. Next time I go in I will see if he still doesnt know and I will show him!!!

This was super helpful.
Mine stopped tilting and I was wondering what was wrong. As soon as I took away the L/R button off the middle, tilt was good.

This is an awesome function, my 2003 Tahoe has this feature. Just bought my wife a 2016 Highlander, going to test it later, hopefully it works. 🤞

I have a highlander but this video kinda explains my problem because my right mirror was moving then later I set the joystick in the middle and I didn’t know because of that it had stopped moving and now it makes sense. Thanks a lot!

Thanks Steven. My mirrors on my Avalon wasn't going down when I put on reverse, thought I had an electrical issue, but it turned out, I locked them as I had the switch placed in the middle, didn't know that it stops moving if you have in the middle. Anyway thanks again.

Great work Steven. I just tried this on the Australian Kluger Grande Hybrid and it works exactly as you described. The Grande is the top trim level, and is the equivalent of the Highlander.
